I think Kenny will recognize one of the board members just announced for the Bush Clinton Haiti Fund. The article says that $36 million has been donated to the fund. Might be able to add on to some of the projects this fund will support.

From the thousands of miles that I sit from the people of Haiti, it seems that there can be no start on long-term solutions until the government returns to some type of order. Once that occurs people will have some type of authority to go to when needing authorization for long-term plans - even if the government's system of operation is one which is more dependent on bribery than administrative rules and regulations.

Those organizations which have been operating in the country for decades - or at least years - would probably be in the best position to know how to make connections which can result in real long-term impact.

The need is great, and it has been since long before this earthquake shook Haiti to the forefront of the world's view. Real change will come through trying things in specific areas on a small scale and expanding the operations that work to other areas as money allows. Sustained change can only come if the people of Haiti are active participants in the change. They don't need a thousand people with ideas coming in to tell them how to create a viable economy with a thriving populace; they need a thousand people who will listen to their ideas and guide them in how to create their own viable economy and make their own people a thriving populace.

Kenny, your continued determination in seeing that change occurs is the first step on the path to making it happen.
